IKEA Hack: All-in-One Desk/Chair

posted by Marcus, June 10, 2016 @ 4:46 am

Working on the short film ‘The Warning‘ I’ve been spending most of my time either in the computer chair working, or sitting around waiting for video to render. I badly needed a new dual-PC rig – so I could toggle between machines – that is also comfortable. Something somewhere between Darth Vader’s meditation chamber and Roald Dahl’s writing chair. What I came up with is the ‘Dahl Vader’ dual-PC ‘IKEA hack’ gaming/home theatre all-in-one chair/desk.

As a convenient co-benefit the videos of the build also serve as a more advanced version of The Macaroni Experiment

Here are the videos of the build, and what you’ll need to try it yourself:

– 2x Glivarp extendable glass tables
– 1x Timsfors swivel recliner
– 1x PS2012 dropleaf table OR 1x Besta Burs shelf
– 1m 1 1/4″ (32mm) steel channel
– 4 castor wheels
– 1x truckload bolts and brackets (see video)

Hmmm… Who reads ‘Yahoo news’? I think Yahoo and Bing are the same thing now anyway.

I refuse to use Bing because it’s so pushy, always trying to take over my browser default. I’ve dropped IE as well too. It’s plain crooked and anti-competitive to use one product (IE) to force another (BING). ‘Third-line forcing’ is meant to be illegal.

    Sure. Where’s your blog?
